lonely cupid
|
A depiction of Cupid, the god of love and desire, who makes people fall deeply in love with his bow and arrow every Valentine’s Day. Years of matchmaking and never being at the receiving end have left him unsatisfied and empty, as he longs for his own shot at romance.
Love is

the colours and font changes represent people and how we’re all incredibly different. this includes who we choose to love. but at the end of the day, love is love and every love is deserving and beautiful. show your love to those who matter this valentine’s day.

it is midnight and all I can think about is you.
I trace patterns onto my pillowcase hoping it was your skin my fingers were on
I collapse soundlessly, crashing walls wave after wave as the night presses in
i breathe in nothing but crushed shards of air and my lungs ignite fueled by the oxygen you left in me when our lips were locked
I close my eyes to the sound of your gentle breathing and feel my heartbeat move in sync with the pulse on your wrist
i see you in shades of blue and grey the only light the bright of night fading as seconds pass
you are a masterpiece - shrouded in an intangible aura that keeps me at bay and i am overwhelmed as your colors bleed onto the bed sheets
and i soak them all up like a sponge i take in every memory every scent every touch every taste and i am whole and fulfilled
engorged on our spectres i complete myself devouring the ghosts of our pasts
is it not cruel how even when i find peace - you are still in it?

the complexities of your mind unravel like
shreds of the purple universe coming to light.
you are a vacuum, you render me breathless
and all i can do is blink back the ice that forms on my lashes,
to wait for the next gust of your storm, to
whirl me away. not god forsaken ; this darkness,
it is welcome, a break from the air back on earth.
you are the blanket, the very fabric that wraps around the cosmos and
you are dusted with the stars
the light under your eyes supernovas and your
touch could collapse infinite worlds, colonies
yet you choose so deliberately, delicately to give life.
why, why, why do you watch the destruction between your arms
and yet, continue to shine light, hopeful and soft
dim illumination, on our shame?
you -
too good for this world therefore becoming,
the world.
you - being of galactic enchantments.
you - selflessly giving, luminescent bloomings at your fingertips
you - how can i not love?
shreds of the purple universe coming to light.

You gave my life a purpose, bright and clear,
Like a polished diamond, rich in value,
My life is bare without your presence near.
I remember not how Fate made you appear,
Just in Time, when all I need is you,
You gave my life a purpose, bright and clear.
You could have been my fuel for the year,
To spark my fire blazing, through and through,
My life is bare without your presence near.
You’ve taught me what it means to be sincere,
In what I do, in what I wish to pursue,
You gave my life a purpose, bright and clear.
But please listen: there’s one thing I fear,
Since I’m on the slippery verge of losing you,
My life is bare without your presence near.
I beg you, beseech you: be back beside me here,
Brighten my blackest moments, and blissful ones too,
You gave my life a purpose, bright and clear,
My life is bare without your presence near.
Like a polished diamond, rich in value,
My life is bare without your presence near.
I remember not how Fate made you appear,
Just in Time, when all I need is you,

your blood flows
when your tears cannot.
you say your arteries cleave to
spill your lies and secrets
in a river of
unsung lyrics and
unwanted heartbeats,
but all i see are rubies
the size of my love
and sapphires
the blue of your cold lips.
when your tears cannot.
you say your arteries cleave to
spill your lies and secrets
in a river of
unsung lyrics and
unwanted heartbeats,
but all i see are rubies
the size of my love
and sapphires
the blue of your cold lips.
Falling men
|
Men slog off to battle
Only when there are things to be lost. Men fall back
Sooner, stoop a little lower, charge
Slower, more cautious, you see,
When they have a promise to keep.
Men lose their bloody battle
Cry when there is a maiden to love. Men
No longer seek valor for the heads they bring when his
Head may rest, alone, when
Elsewhere a woman is left waiting and lonely.
Men only truly fear when they break
A vow muffled into long locks, chanted into an ear. Men only
Keen like he is broken, when he sees that he
Should have clung tighter to his lover, should have never
Let go.
Men can only break this way
Amidst spears and swords, cannons and gunshots, amidst
Battles and wars. Men only break this way. Claudius II
Must have seen this inborn crevice
When he banned marriage and love.
And yet all the fame and spoils of war and promises of
Extravagance, men will give them up. And all the
Weakness and fear and incompetence, men will
Stand beneath their abrasive downpour. Men
Will reject the absolute word of the Emperor.
Men will still fall in love.
Only when there are things to be lost. Men fall back
Sooner, stoop a little lower, charge
Slower, more cautious, you see,
When they have a promise to keep.
